We want all our students to have the best possible experience while studying at GBS Dubai. To achieve this, we provide a range of academic and pastoral support services to help you successfully navigate your way through your chosen course. Whether you need help writing essays or making presentations, or support and advice on personal issues, we are with you every step of the way.
Our Academic Support team are here to help you with all academic aspects of your studies – essay writing, presentations, referencing, and much more. If you need help in these areas you can contact your Programme or Module leader, or the Academic Support team directly. Or simply speak to your tutor after class!
We are committed to ensuring that our learning space is open and inviting to all. If you require personalised support which may include learning or accessibility adjustments, please get in touch with our Welfare Team for further assistance. Our obligation is to ensure that all our students have what they need to succeed.
Formative assessments are an essential part of your course. Although they don’t count towards your final mark, they help you and your tutors track how well you’re doing and where you might need help. Don’t worry if you have no experience with assessments at an academic level as your tutors and the Academic Support team are there to guide you and provide you with constructive feedback.
The ability to write academic essays and reports, to cite and reference, and to give presentations are all key components of academic study. We provide study skills classes and seminars throughout the academic year, as well as one-to-one sessions with your tutor or another member of the Academic Support team.
Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is where you can join online lectures and get access to study materials and reading lists. Here you’ll also find all your assignment briefs, lecture slides, module handbooks, guidebooks, and much more.
We want all our students to have a happy and rewarding experience with us. However, we know that during your time at GBS, you may face circumstances that could adversely affect your studies. These could be personal issues, or mental or physical health problems. Whatever the issue may be, we want you to know that we're here to help and will make sure you receive all the support you need.
If you’re experiencing any issues you feel will negatively affect your studies please contact the Welfare Team who will be there to help you.
We'll always listen with empathy and without judgment, and will direct you to emotional support, counselling, or practical advice organisations.
If you have a disability or experience learning difficulties we can provide specialised support through our external special needs provider. We can also set up learning and accessibility adjustments for students.
Learning adjustments
Once we're aware that you're experiencing problems or issues we can create individual learning adjustments to help you successfully complete your studies. This may include providing extra one-to-one support with a tutor, deadline extensions, or learning adjustments to meet your needs.
Whatever issues you're experiencing, you can trust that any guidance and support we recommend or offer is strictly confidential.
