A practical introduction to working in a chosen area or sector of industry. Go on to further study, take an apprenticeship or join the workplace at a junior level.

Develop fundamental skills and knowledge with a hands-on course. Post-course, start your career, continue studies, or join a professional development programme.
1 year
A recognised industry-specific course that is more practical than theoretical.
HNC can lead to employment opportunities, however most students move on to the HND course.
2 years (or 1 year post HNC)
A work-related, practical course that is a step up from HNC, digging deeper into a subject. HND can open doors to a great career. Many follow HND with a one-year top-up degree.
BTEC Level 5 Diploma
1 year
A hands-on course, with advanced level practical sessions and case studies. You'll be ready to work in a variety of contexts and to advance your career.
A course that gives you specific skills for a particular role, industry or sector. Be better placed to take advantage of career opportunities within your chosen sector.
