Course Overview

During the four-week programme, students will consider many aspects of global investment banking, including financial statements, valuation, financial modelling, transaction premiums and buyouts.

The specialist skills and knowledge developed during the course are in great demand with employers in the banking sector worldwide. Students will leave the course in a strong position to move on to the next, higher level in their global investment banking careers.

Assessment

There are no formal examinations for this course. Assessments are undertaken in various ways:

  • presentation
  • writing an assignment
  • analysing a case study
  • completing a portfolio of evidence
  • writing reports

You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success on this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period.

  • Global investment banking process and style module
  • Application on one London stock exchange (LSE) listed company and one private (non-public) company

Week 2

  • Fundamentals of valuation, trading comparable valuation and Financial Modelling of Trading Comps
  • Application on at least four public stock exchange listed companies and one private company
  • Discussion on frequently asked questions (FAQs) on this topic by Investment Banks and Private Equity firms

Week 3

  • Discounted cash flow valuation and Financial Modelling
  • Financial modelling on LSE, NYSE, and NASDAQ listed company and best global investment banking Excel financial practices
  • Application on one London stock exchange (LSE) listed company, two New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) listed companies, and one private company
  • Questions (FAQs) on this topic by Investment Banks and Private Equity firms

Week 4

  • Determining Transaction Premium (Transaction Comps), Leveraged/Management Buyout (LBO), and Financial Modelling M&A transactions Pro-forma and leveraged buyout modelling
  • Board presentation of the investment banking transaction
  • Discussion on frequently asked questions (FAQs) on this topic by Investment Banks and Private Equity firms
